Our Wonderful Inquiry Work

PEPA Tots

Pepa Tots have been developing their new skills such as digging , using the fork and also learning about science and nature from growing their own food. They also got to learn about the different seasons, and how weather has effects on the plants. As we had planted potatoes in November we were able to pull out some lovely potatoes this week. We looked at what we can make with potatoes and took it around to show Mrs Rimmer and Miss Theobald to show our beautiful potatoes. We also boiled some to taste. As this week has been a very hot week we finished it with a water play outside with our water guns and then had an ice lolly to cool us down.

Captain Sir Moore Class

In Year 5, we have been exploring the events of 1066 through our text 'I was there 1066', looking at the thoughts and feelings of the two main characters Edwin and Osric. The two children are due to fight in the Battle of Hastings and have two very different opinions on becoming a warrior. As we move forward in our inquiry, we are going to be rewriting the narrative from the perspective of Osric, conveying his apprehension for battle. To understand how he is feeling, we have been using drama and hot seating to try and help us to understand Osric in more detail.

School information

Design and Technology Day

Mrs Elliott organised a day of activities so that children across the school could practice their DT skills. The children really enjoyed designing and making a variety of different products and mechanisms.

Beatrix Potter class used our DT day to design, make and incorporate a lever within our Father's Day card.

In year 5 and 6, we learned about hydraulics and used our understanding to create monster head toys for younger children that opened and closed using a hydraulic system made with syringes and tubing. We had to consider the mechanism, the design of the monster and its purpose.

INFORMATION

Lost Property and Uniform Swap

Next Tuesday after school the PEPA PTA will be holding a Lost Property and Uniform Swap. This will be laid out on tables out the front of the school with all the lost property we have in Reception. Please take the time to look through this and if you have any uniform that no longer fits your child, please leave it and see if we have anything that has been swapped in that your child could have for next year or see if you can claim any of the lost property.
