Our Wonderful Inquiry Work

Marcus Rashford

In the first few weeks of the term the children have been getting to know each other and their classroom. We researched Marcus Rashford and the amazing work he did alongside a charity. The children have been working hard to learn about the Stone Age, the children have been keen to learn as we have been comparing it to our lives today. The children expressed that their favourite lesson so far was when we used drama and dance to express the emotions that were portrayed in our story, the Stone Age boy.

Marcus Rashford class are knowledgeable on the Stone Age boy as we have linked our class book into a range of subjects. We are very lucky this year as we have a PE coach coming to teach our PE lesson once a week for the whole term! During our first PE lesson, we started off with learning the rules of hockey to reduce the chance of injury. The coach started off by showing us how we held a hockey stick with an imaginary ball in front of us. Once we mastered this skill, we added a ball and worked our way around some cones. Throughout the term, we will be learning different skills in relation to Hockey.

Walt Disney

In Walt Disney class, we have been settling into our new routine of being in Key Stage 2. The children have adapted well to this and have enjoyed getting to know the children in their class. We have been learning about who Walt Disney was and what he did during his career.

As a class, we have enjoyed reading the book ‘Stone Age boy’ and have found it fun to memorise the words when we are reading it as part of a class.

During our inquiry lessons, we have been writing a diary entry pretending we were Stone Age boy and discussing the emotions that he would be feeling. We are now reading the book ‘Stig of the Dump’ and we have been able to comment on the different language used throughout.

Oliver Jeffers

Oliver Jeffers class have been having lots of fun settling into life at school. We have spent a lot of time exploring our inside and outside areas and making new friends. We have begun our inquiry work, thinking about who we are; we have drawn and painted self portraits, created houses to represent our families and even thought about what makes a good friend. To explore our feelings, we read the story of The Colour Monster, painted pictures to represent different feelings and have made an interactive class feelings display. As well as all of that, we have started our phonics, focussing on the ‘s’ and ‘a’ sounds so far. We are very excited to continue on our learning journey. Miss Hartung and Mrs Glazier have been very impressed with how well Oliver Jeffers class have settled into school!

School information

Head Boy and Head Girl

This week, we were excited to announce PEPA's first ever Head Boy & Head Girl and their deputies. These children will stand as our school council representatives and will be able to work with Mrs Rimmer and the rest of the Senior Leadership team to run assemblies, meet with Governors and be involved in decisions for the whole school too. It is a very exciting opportunity! Thank you to all our Year 6 pupils who created applications for these very special roles. A lot of hard work and effort had gone into these applications, and following much deliberation, we can share our Head Boy, Head Girl and Deputies with you now:

Head Boy - Oliver

Head Girl - Delilah

Deputy Head Boy - Ryan

Deputy Head Girl - Sophie

GREAT BIG GREEN WEEK!

The Great Big Green Week is the UK’s biggest ever celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature. Next week, each class will be taking part in some green activities over the course of the week to play our part in this event.

We would like to encourage all of our families to take part in Green Week any way you can - maybe you could go on a walk in our local area over the weekend, spend some time working together in the garden or another activity of your choice? It would be great to have some photos of these activities for us to include as part of our display. If you would like to take part in this, please send photos to the office or print them out and send them in.
