This module in Design and Technology, Year 2 are learning about mechanisms, wheels and axles. We have had lots of fun in our D&T lessons this week. We explored different wheeled objects and leant how they are connected to the axle and the axle holder. Year 2 then had an opportunity to make their own wheels and an axle out of straws and paper.
To link in with our inquiry and The Great Fire of London, next week Year 2 will be making their own fire engine. We have designed what we would like the fire engine to look like and then we produced a lovely written piece about how we will make our final product.
We are very excited to create and build the Fire Engines and become a Firefighter for a day!

Wow! What a week it has been for our Year 6 pupils. They have worked incredibly hard and have shown great resilience, perseverance and positivity towards their SATs tests.
Year 6 have still continued with their afternoon lessons this week and enjoyed a very competitive game of bench ball and planned some beautiful nature inspired art work using the Galapagos Islands as a stimulus.
Although we have completed tests, we have still had great fun at our Year 6 breakfast club, afternoons on the field and a very exciting trip to Haven where we took part in the high ropes activity as an end of SATs treat.

Year 3 have been attending swimming lessons on Friday's, where they have learnt to swim backwards, breathe underwater and improve their overall swimming skills.
Some children were challenged in every lesson, as they were not confident swimmers; however, once they were provided with tips on how to complete swimming skills, they quickly began to grow confident. The confident swimmers worked with Miss Hosegood, who provided them with extra tips on swimming underwater as well as a range of new swimming skills being taught, such as swimming at length with their head underwater.
The children have enjoyed their swimming lessons and are looking forward to being able to continue their swimming lessons in year 4.
Year 5 have also been attending swimming lessons this module., where they have been developing their skills which they have previously learnt during Year 4. The children were split into small groups and worked with dedicated swimming instructors to ensure they gained the most out of every lesson. The children practiced different strokes in the water to help build their confidence as well as gaining speed in the pool. The children commented on how much they enjoyed their lessons and how they would like to put them to use outside of school!
Lost Property
We have accumulated a lot of lost property in the academy office. We have lots of hoodies from PE lessons and also school jumpers. Please pop into the office and speak to Mrs Fenner or Miss Hosegood and they will gladly share the lost property box with you to see if there is anything for your child/children that they may not have returned home with.
Many items are not named so please ensure that any items of uniform or PE kit are named so that they can be returned much more swiftly.
Many thanks for your support.
