Our Wonderful Inquiry Work

Beatrix Potter class this week have been making their own number lines, watching their caterpillars grow and creating lots of art inspired by Vincent Van Gogh, Henri Matisse and The very Hungry Caterpillar story. They have been looking at different pieces of work by various artists to appreciate and talk about our varying perspectives. The children have also used their phonic knowledge to label them.

This week in Captain Sir Tom Moore Class, we have been using Book Creator to share our learning from our recent inquiry into life expectancy and how this can be influenced by changes such as: vaccines, health advances and diet. We have used many skills to do this, such as looking at life expectancy over time and comparing the UK's life expectancy to countries around the world.

Dame Kelly Holmes Class really enjoyed using atlases to investigate the seven Continents and track the journey that Ernest Shackleton’s crew attempted in Endeavour. Did you know that they were only one day away from Antarctica when the got stuck in the ice? Also, as part of Mental Health Week, our theme being ‘Connect to Nature', we have have been participating in a variety of calm activities. They enjoyed a relaxing yoga session, going on a nature walk and creating art with nature. We’ve listened to soothing music and understood that we have both mental and physical health.

Heroes for Stamps

We just wanted to let you know that some of our children have entered a competition to design a stamp for Covid heroes launched by Royal Mail. Classes decided whether they wanted to participate and could be in with the chance to win some fabulous prizes. To find out more, please explore the link below.
