Our Wonderful Inquiry Work

Marcus Rashford

On Thursday 2nd February 2023 some children from year 3 and year 4 went to an athletics event at Medway park. It was a morning filled with running, jumping and sprinting. The children participated in a range of events such as high jump, speed jumping and relay races. They worked together as a team during these events and cheered each other one. The children had a great time participating and were keen to do more, we look forward to organising another event.

Thank you to Miss Carlton who organised the children into the games, ensuring that they enjoyed the activity these were chosen for. We would also like to thank the parents that stayed to support us as they guided the children and cheered.

Walt Disney

This week, Year 3 had Mr Rudkin come in to teach them some more French. The children had so much fun learning about animals and also writing animals into sentences. All of the children commented on how much fun they had learning how to expand on their French knowledge.

Over the past few weeks, the children have been preparing for some of them to attend the athletics festival. The children have been competing in a number of different athletics-based activities during their PE lesson, focussing on their coordination and balance.

In our inquiry, we have been learning about light. The children worked in small groups to design their own reflective item. They were also able to label them and suggest which materials they should use in order to make their item as strong as possible.

In Art, the children have been using their knowledge of what they have learnt in inquiry to sketch Thomas Edison. All of the children were happy with their results and should be proud of how much effort they have put into this.

In computing, children have been using their inquiry knowledge to help them create their own book using Book Creator. The children have used their research skills to find out new facts about Thomas Edison and add them into their book.

Oliver Jeffers

We have had a very exciting week in Oliver Jeffers class. Last week 10 stick insect eggs arrived and we learnt about their life cycle, acting it out and drawing it. The children drew and wrote all about the eggs and waited very patiently. Today, our first stick insect hatched! It is very small at the moment and we are excited for more to come.

We've also had an exciting visit of two pet rats today, linking with our central idea on improving the wellbeing of other living things. We have treated them very kindly and have even prepared food for them to eat.
