Well done to Beatrix Potter class, who has won attendance Ted this week. In KS2, Alan Turing class are the winning class for attendance so a huge well done to them too! Unfortunately, we have started to head into more challenging times as we have had more cases of Covid within the school and wider community that has started to affect our attendance at this point but we are looking in a much better position that we were in December.

Our Wonderful Inquiry Work
Beatrix Potter Class
As part of our inquiry before Christmas we were learning about signs and symbols of celebrations. For the performance of the Nativity, We have thought about what kind of country the story takes place in and where that is in the world. We have talked about whether it is recent or a story from a long time ago. The children were able to recall the story in detail and learned many songs and the signing for them. Some children made representations of the Nativity story. We also made mini yule logs, decorations and lots of individual interpretations to represent the children’s own individual learning.
The children have also been noticing what signs and symbols they use to prepare for their own celebrations. Many children have sent photographs from home to share with the class about how they are preparing for celebrations in their families.
In our circle times the children shared pictures and recalled their experiences. Many children shared experiences without photos as they wanted to contribute to our class learning.
Captain Sir Tom Moore Class
In Captain Sir Tom Moore Class, we have been exploring sacred stories within the Sikh faith. We started this inquiry by discussing what makes a special book and whether we have our own special story and why. This developed many insightful conversations about why things are important to us and the lessons that are taught through a special story.
We also had a balanced discussion within class about other special stories from other religions, this enabled the children to demonstrate their open-minded nature when thinking about other opinions and beliefs.
