It has been a whirlwind few months since our last Newsletter, with children and staff returning to schools and readjusting to their more familiar educational routines, secondary school places being confirmed across the country and the enrolment process for new secondary students commencing.
For one year only we have offered 60 more places than we had expected working in partnership with Medway Council. We have therefore offered places to 240 fortunate young people in our local community, as opposed to the expected 180, who will be part of something truly special as the founding cohort of Leigh Academy Rainham. Knowing that we have been an absolute 'school of choice' in my home community is heart warming and something of which I am immensely proud. The privilege and responsibility of the role I have undertaken does not elude me and I am fully committed to the momentous task ahead of ensuring every single child that attends Leigh Academy Rainham will feel safe, content and valued and that the quality of education they receive is world class.
On that note I would like to take the opportunity in this edition of our newsletter to introduce all our wonderful teachers to you. We are now fully staffed with all the teachers we had hoped to recruit and have already begun meeting and working together virtually to plan for a highly successful opening and the team spirit, commitment and absolute resolve I have already seen from them to make LAR something truly special is commendable.
By now you will have all received our enrolment forms and my transition event letter, many of which have already been returned to us. Please do read the content of the enrolment forms very carefully so that you understand what permissions and consents you are agreeing to prior to your child starting with us. Many of you have now joined our private Facebook Group for parents and we will continue to use this platform to inform you of communication we are sending out, for example about our transition events. I am already in contact with our 30 local feeder primary schools to arrange transition visits and we have scheduled a number of meetings with them throughout June. I look forward to meeting you face to face on either the 6th or 8th of July at St Margaret's Church,
Miss Millward
Principal
Please click this link to visit our 'Meet the Teacher's Page. Here you will find staff introductions with each teacher outlining what they teach, what they are passionate about and what most excites them about the opportunity to join Miss Millward on Leigh Academy Rainham's journey to excellence.
Upon our last visit to the building site we were able to see the new Science laboratories being fitted, rooms being painted and the library space was beginning to look fabulous.
Brick work is complete and we expect the grey cladding to be installed around the sports hall in the coming month. The solar panels have also been installed on the roof.
The roundabout at the entrance is nearly complete and this will help to ease congestion and ensure smooth traffic flow onto the site for morning drop off and afternoon pick up.
If you have received a place please check your emails for an Enrolment Form that needs to be completed and emailed back to admissions@leighacademyrainham.org.uk with proof of address and your child's ID.
If you are on the waiting list there is still a potential chance you could be offered a place while reallocation across Medway Schools takes place. The reallocation of places follows our Admissions criteria, e.g. based on distance.
You can still join our waiting list at any time using the Medway Council website.
If you have lodged an appeal and since been offered a place your appeal will have automatically been cancelled, you will not need to contact us about this.
If you have lodged an appeal and not been allocated a place from the waiting list, these are currently scheduled to take place on June 7th.
