Leigh Academy Hugh Christie
Year 10
Welcome to LAHC10! This dedicated site is designed specifically for Year 10 students and their parents. Here, you’ll find key information to keep you up to date, essential tools for revision, and wellbeing support to guide you through the final two years of GCSEs.
Year 10 marks a significant phase in your academic journey as you embark on the GCSE syllabus. It’s a time to take your studies seriously, seek support and advice when needed, and hone the skills that will set the foundation for your success. This year not only tests your knowledge of chosen subjects but also plays a crucial role in shaping your future choices for A-levels and beyond.
At Leigh Academy Hugh Christie, we emphasize the importance of developing essential skills like time management, study habits, and effective revision techniques. While these skills are introduced in the earlier years, Year 10 is where they are truly consolidated. Through classroom learning, daily advisory sessions with your Advisors, and the guidance of your parents and carers, you will build the resilience and discipline needed to achieve academic excellence.
As you transition into Year 10, you can expect:
An increase in conceptual difficulty as topics become more challenging.
A heavier workload requiring more time and effort for homework completion.
A greater need for self-directed learning, taking initiative in your educational journey.
We have created a culture at Leigh Academy Hugh Christie where classwork, homework, and controlled assessments are treated with the same importance as the final examinations. We are committed to supporting every student, equipping you with the necessary skills to succeed in whichever path you choose.
At our academy, we are guided by the 3Rs: Ready, Respectful, and Responsible. These core values are the foundation of everything we do:
Ready: We ensure that students are prepared and motivated, fully engaging with every learning opportunity.
Respectful: We promote a culture of kindness and understanding, valuing diverse perspectives and treating everyone with dignity.
Responsible: We encourage students to take ownership of their actions, make thoughtful decisions, and contribute positively to our community.
By adhering to these principles, we aim to create an environment where every student can thrive.
I am incredibly excited about the prospect of seeing all students feel proud of their results in August 2026, and I am confident that by working together, we can achieve this goal. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your son or daughter’s Advisor or subject teacher, who will be more than happy to assist.
Yours sincerely,
Mr Stamato
