Module 1
I hope this newsletter finds you well. We are delighted to provide you with key highlights from Module 1. All our students have made the best start to the new academic year but in particular our new Year 7 and new Year 12 students have settled well and are already an integral part of the LAHC family.
We are grateful to all parents / carers for their support in helping us towards digital transformation of our curriculum. Students are using their Chromebook devices effectively across their subject areas on a daily basis and also utilising google classroom to aid their learning both at the academy as well as at home.
Our small school model is effectively implemented and students are benefiting from excellent student services support based in their own colleges.
As part of becoming an IB World School, we have successfully launched the IB MYP programme across the KS3, our students are learning and utilising IB learner profiles and gaining IB merit points across their subject areas.
We were delighted to welcome a number of parents / carers in all our parent’s information events and we are really grateful for your positive engagement with the academy.
We also started our transition programme for Year 6 pupils in this module, we have hosted a number of open events and I am pleased to report that these events have been exceptionally well attended. It has been heartening to witness the enthusiasm and curiosity evident in our Year 6 pupils as they explored our academy's facilities and met all our staff. Thank you to all our students who volunteered to help during all our open events, we received amazingly positive feedback from our visitors. Our students are the true ambassadors of the academy and they make us all very proud.
We wish you and the family the very best.
Best regards,
Mr Palak Shah
Principal
What a great start to our academic year! Every student is equipped with a Chromebook. This is already transforming our learning environment, creating a more inclusive, efficient, and tech-savvy educational experience for our students.
Read about the benefits of Chromebooks below...
Easy Access to Learning Resources with 24/7 availability: Our students have immediate access to Google Classroom, lesson materials, assignments, and resources, anytime and anywhere.
Personalised & Flexible Learning: Our students can revisit lessons, rewatch videos, or re-read materials at their own pace, meeting their individual learning needs. Our teachers can tailor resources and assignments to different skill levels, enabling more personalised learning experiences.
Enhanced Collaboration: With Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides, students can work together on projects in real time, whether they're in the same room or at home, promoting teamwork and problem-solving skills. Immediate feedback is available through comments or graded assignments, helping our students improve faster.
Improved Communication: Through Google Classroom, students can ask questions, submit work, and communicate with teachers and classmates directly, making support more accessible. Teachers can also post announcements, reminders, or updates for the whole class, ensuring everyone is informed and engaged.
Digital Skills, which are essential for the future: Using the Chromebook builds important digital literacy skills, which is key for the future of the modern workplace.

Well done to Tamzin for demonstrating a high level of responsibility during her English lesson. Through her creative writing exercise, she showed remarkable focus and dedication, producing thoughtful and imaginative work. Her commitment to following the task guidelines while adding her unique voice highlights her growing maturity and attention to detail. Keep up the excellent effort, Tamzin!
It was incredibly challenging to select just three students from the many wonderful individuals who give their best effort every day. However, William, Sophie, and Tamzin stood out as true representatives of our core values here at Leigh Academy Hugh Christie.

"Hot Chocolate Friday is one of my favorite parts of the week. It’s a real joy to meet with the small group of 'winners,' celebrate their achievements, and get to know them better. But the absolute highlight is reading through every single nomination. It’s such a pleasure to hear about all the incredible things our students accomplish week after week. I’m filled with pride after reading each one.
Well done to everyone who has received a nomination so far, and to all our students, keep striving to do your best! Your hard work is truly appreciated by the staff, and we love celebrating your achievements."

We are thrilled to celebrate an incredible talented student at Leigh Academy Hugh Christie. Ava, a Year 9 student who has found her passion in darts! Despite only playing for just over a year, Ava's skills have already landed her a spot on the Youth Sussex team, and now she’s making waves as part of the Youth England Team!
Her recent performance at the ADC darts tournament on Thursday, October 3rd, was nothing short of spectacular. Ava triumphed in 4 out of her 5 matches, facing off against seasoned adult competitors. One opponent even admitted, "We get nervous when she steps up to the board—she’s just that good!"
Her incredible achievements make both her parents and everyone at the Academy immensely proud. Keep an eye on Ava, because this is just the beginning of her exciting journey in the world of darts!
Our Year 10 students have been getting creative in the kitchen, experimenting with all kinds of mouth-watering marinades as they gear up for their big GCSE NEA projects! The department has been filled with incredible smells, and we can't wait to see (and hopefully taste!) the delicious dishes they’ll be serving up soon. With all the exciting flavors they’ve been testing out, we know their final creations are going to be nothing short of spectacular!
