Transition Programme - Key Dates 

National Offer Day - 1st March 2025 - families will be notified of their child’s secondary school placement.

Initial contact with families - 3rd to 6th March 2025 - During this time, the academy leadership team will make phone calls to welcome families to Leigh Academy Bexley and confirm their acceptance of the place offered.

Year 7 Transition Information Evening - 13th March 2025 - The first opportunity for families to meet the Academy Leadership Team and be officially welcomed to our school community. The event will include a presentation delivered by Mr Dixon and other members of the leadership team, where we will share key information regarding the Year 7 Transition programme. There will also be an informal Question & Answer session, giving families the chance to ask questions and engage with the leadership team.

Primary School visits - May/June 2025 - Our Transition team will visit all our feeder primary schools during this period. This process allows us to meet our new students in a familiar environment for them and give them insight into life at the academy. It also allows the students to ask any questions that they may have.

Getting to Know You Evening - 12th June 2025 - Families will be invited to visit the academy to have a one-on-one meeting with a member of the academy leadership team. This will allow families to ask specific questions regarding their child's education and for us to gain further information about our new cohort of students.

Transition Activity Week - 23rd to 27th June 2025 - We will be hosting a week of after-school transition lessons that will introduce our new cohort of students to some of the exciting lessons that they will experience at Leigh Academy Bexley when they join us in September 2025. 

Transition day - July 1st 2025  - Your child will be invited to a transition day before the summer break where they will have the opportunity to start making new friends, engage in exciting transition lessons and meet members of staff and students. Students will often feel much more confident and reassured about the move after their 'Induction Day' has taken place and they will be eager to start in September 2025.

Summer School -  23rd July to 25th July 2025 -  We are delighted to announce that we will again be delivering a Transition Summer School this year. During Summer School, students will take part in a range of team-building  and physical activities. Students will also participate in a series of taster sessions in a variety of subjects offered at Leigh Academy Bexley. This will be an exciting opportunity for our new Year 7 students to get a taste of what is to come when they start in September 2025.

Induction day - Monday 1st September 2025 - Our New Year 7 students will start a day earlier than their peers, and will spend the majority of the day with their form class and key members of staff within their College. This will give our new cohort of students a further opportunity to familiarise themselves with the academy before the rest of the Academy returns on Tuesday 2nd September.
