Sports and Healthy Living Week
This week the children have been celebrating our Sports and Healthy Living Week, organised by Mr Knighton. The children have participated in a range of activities over the course of the week. On Monday, one of our parents, Mr Wiggins, came in to deliver a talk to each class around Healthy eating and many of our classes discussed healthy foods. Some of our classes also made healthy meals from fruit and vegetables. A very big thank you to him for giving up his time to talk to our classes as they very much enjoyed the sessions.
On Tuesday, we celebrated the European Football Championship, wearing our kits into school, then taking part in mini tournaments and also developing our International Mindedness by looking at where the teams were located on a map.
On both Wednesday and Thursday we had our sports day races and a fun sports day too. Fingers crossed we will be able to share some races with you shortly on our websites. In the meantime, please enjoy all of the photos we have shared below.
On Friday we have celebrated the achievements from the week.

Our Wonderful Inquiry Work
Captain Sir Tom Moore
This week in Captain Sir Tom Moore Class we have been writing a biography on William the Conqueror. We followed this line of inquiry to explore the Battle of Hastings in more detail before we look at the Bayeux Tapestry. The children have been great thinkers in their writing and they have also shown themselves to be brilliant reflective inquirers by editing and improving their writing with a purple pen.
Dame Kelly Holmes Class
Dame Kelly Holmes, after reading the Story on 'myOn' The attractive story of magnetism with Max Axiom, Superscientist, created fantastic electronic books all about magnetic facts, in a comic book style. They have definitely enjoyed inquiry and the practical side of learning this week. How knowledgeable.
Year 5 Medway Test Reminder
Just a reminder for those parents wishing to sign up their children for the Medway Test. The closing date for applications is Tuesday 29th June so please ensure that you have registered your child if you wish them to take part. You can find this information on our website or on the Medway council site.
Rainbow Day for the NHS
On Friday 9th July we are going to be celebrating and showing our support for the NHS by having a non school uniform day 'Rainbow Day'. Children can come to school in rainbow colours and may wear face paints if they wish. We would also welcome a £1 donation on the day that will be given to Medway Maritime Hospital to support all of the work they do in our local hospital and through the tough times we have all experienced over the past few years. You have a couple of weeks to prepare and we can all make sure that we are bright and colourful on the day.
