I love languages, Latin most of all! Here's the funny thing--I started Latin in high school as a compromise with my father and never intended to do it for more than two years. Now, more than 30 years later, I'm sharing my passion with students.
This is my 14th year with Los Alamos Public Schools. I started at LAMS and moved to the high school 9 years ago. I have taught many different subjects, mostly languages (French, German, Cultural Language, and Introduction to Latin), Special Education Math (Algebra and Geometry), and study skills (ACT/SAT Test Preparation, Focus, and Academic Skills Lab). This year I am teaching only Latin at Topper Freshman Academy and Los Alamos High School.
In addition, I am a sponsor of the LAHS/TFA Latin Club, as well as the Genders and Sexualities Alliance (GSA). I am also the LAPS Safe Space Coordinator. Outside of school, I served as the Director of the Translation Department for Project Nota, helping to create materials that make more female Latin authors available to students and teachers. I have also worked on a translation of a lead tablet with a love spell in Ancient Greek for potential inclusion in a future anthology. I serve as a board member for Friends of Los Alamos Pride and facilitate Our Whole Lives (OWL) at the Unitarian Church of Los Alamos
I live in Los Alamos with my wife, younger son, and cat. My older son is a 2021 LAHS graduate and working on his undergraduate degree now.
