Enrollment Requirements & Process

LAHS Credit Recovery Information & Requirements. Administration must approve exceptions.

  • Students must have earned a 40% or higher overall grade in the failed class and had 10 or fewer absences for the semester (20 or fewer in 4th period).
  • Students take one course at a time during one scheduled class period in the A.L.L.
  • Students who do not complete their course by the end-of-semester target date will retake the course in the regular classroom.
  • Credit Recovery classes are prescriptive in nature (i.e.: provide the opportunity to test out of already-mastered concepts). Students who wish to be considered for collegiate athletic eligibility or scholarships should note that the NCAA Clearinghouse does not accept prescriptive coursework.
  • Students are limited to 4 semesters of credit via the Credit Recovery program.
  • Special education student placement into a Credit Recovery class is an IEP decision. Factors that must be considered include literacy levels and whether all accommodations and supports can be provided in the Credit Recovery setting.

To proceed with this option, the student must:

  1. ensure the completion of the student/guardian sections of the enrollment form/contract (available in the A.L.L. or guidance office);
  2. meet with his/her counselor for a review of the guidelines and a transcript analysis;
  3. meet with the Principal for Credit Recovery, Mr. Payne, to obtain a signature for final approval; and,
  4. bring the completed enrollment form to the A.L.L. to be enrolled in the class.
