About Me
Hello,
My name is Kristen Pyle and I have been teaching Baking classes at LAHS for the past eight years.
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics and Food Administration from California State University Long Beach, and many years of experience in commercial and local food industries.
After finishing college I worked as a catering sales manager for Larry's Markets in Seattle, Washington and then for various specialty grocery stores, caterers and bakeries until I opened my own business in 1996.
For seven years I catered events and made breads, pastries, and desserts for local restaurants in the upper Flathead Valley of Montana. I sold my business in order to be a stay at home mother and 10 years later began my second career as a teacher.
I currently live in Santa Fe with my husband and our two daughters. I feel very grateful to be able to share my passion for food while working with such a wonderful group of students and staff here at LAHS.
If I can help my students feel comfortable and confident in the kitchen, then hopefully they will go on to become people who cook. I believe in the saying, "You are what you eat" and to me food, like life, is an exciting adventure.
