Don Davis is a National Presidential Awardee for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Teaching. He has also been awarded an Environmental Education Teaching Award, and is one of only 20 teachers nationwide, to be featured in the American Association for the Advancement of Science book "Exploring the Place of Exemplary Science Teaching". He was awarded a New Hampshire House of Representatives Proclamation for Excellence in Science Teaching. Additionally, he was awarded a commendation, personally presented by Governor Jeanne Shaheen for development of the Westmoreland Weather Team web page and the student Weather Team activity as an example of excellence in science teaching. In addition to his science and engineering teaching positions, Don Davis has been a technology magnet school curriculum specialist and has taught graduate and undergraduate college courses in science methods, computers in the classroom, engineering challenges in the classroom, robotics, photovoltaics, solar thermal, green architectural design, climatology and meteorology.

He is also core faculty and Applied Technologies and Robotics Program Chair at UNM-Los Alamos. Don Davis also recently designed, built and operated a robot for the major motion picture "The Space Between Us" released in February 2017. Don was Los Alamos Public Schools 2012 Teacher Of the Year
