Test Corrections and Retakes

Test Corrections Rubric for Conceptual Physics

Students who complete test corrections can earn up to 50% of their missed points back. You may use your class notes, your textbook, and other resources to make your corrections. Complete test corrections on a separate piece of paper and staple your corrections to the front of your TEST, making sure to include your SCANTRON. Corrections are due the block after the next test. Please follow the guidelines below to earn maximum points back.

For Open Answer corrections complete the entire problem. Write out a complete solution showing all of your work. Often an incorrect answer in part (a) will lead to a different answer for part (b) once you correct part (a).For multiple choice corrections you must use the test corrections template (example below). There are copies of this template available at the front of the room. You may handwrite on the template or copy the template onto a new document and type your corrections. Under “expansion of knowledge”, you must explain the correct answer in a way that lets me know you understand the concepts behind the question and the solution.

Test Retake Qualifications

Students who retake a similar version of the original test can replace their original score with 85% of their new score or the AVERAGE of their new score and their original score. To be eligible for a retake, the student must attend at least one Academic Time session to go over their mistakes on the original test. They are then welcome to complete the test retake during either a lunch break, an Academic Time session, or Saturday School. This is a test and must be taken in its entirety, without the aide of class notes and textbooks. Test retakes must be completed before the next test.
