Call for abstracts
We invite educators, researchers, and creative practitioners to submit abstracts for presentation at the Posthuman Pedagogies: Mindful Creativity in the Age of AI symposium. The event explores how generative AI transforms teaching, learning and creativity in the arts through a mindful and embodied lens that emphasises intentional and responsible practice.
We welcome abstracts for both research and practice-led contributions, including studio protocols, classroom toolkits, case studies and short tool walkthroughs or demos.
Theme overview
This symposium investigates how AI is reshaping artistic learning, authorship, and the human experience in higher education. Through the perspectives of posthuman pedagogies, we seek to understand how human and non-human intelligences co-create new forms of knowledge and artistic expression, with mindfulness and creative consciousness.
We are now calling for abstracts for both research and practice-led contributions, including studio protocols, classroom toolkits, case studies, and short tool walkthroughs or demos.
Sub-themes
Submissions may address (but are not limited to) the following:
Co-authoring the posthuman canvas
How is creative autonomy challenged or expanded when AI co-produces work?
What are the emerging aesthetics of human-machine art?
How do we attribute authorship and value in a system of co-creation?
The Slow Studio: Mindful methodologies for sustainable and embodied practice
What specific mindful methodologies (e.g. reflective interludes, slow-making) can be integrated into the art curriculum?
How can arts education mitigate the risks of detachment and overload associated with constant machine interaction?
Curricular Crossroads: Designing arts pedagogies for human-non-human co-production
What foundational skills, both technical and critical, must be taught to navigate the tension between the accelerated and the slow?
Can institutions foster future-oriented pedagogies that integrate emerging technologies while preserving the embodied, mindful dimensions of artistic practice?
