Dear Parents and Carers,
The festive season is now in full swing and we are really looking forward to showing all of you, our parents and carers, our Christmas performances next week. This is such a magical time of year and the children and staff are working so hard on rehearsals as well as continuing their day to day learning; impressive work from everyone. On Monday we will have our dress rehearsals which will give the rest of the school a chance to watch each other's performance; I look forward to this day each year, it's very special. It was lovely to spend last Friday evening at the torchlight procession with both the Lark Rise and Ardley Hill children and enjoy the Christmas singing and display with some of our Year 5 and 6 children; we even managed to get up close to Santa this year!
There have been lots of 'magic moments' taking place over the last few weeks including the wedding of Barnaby and Bethany Bear in Reception. It was a special occasion for all the children where they were able to experience some of the customs attached to this type of celebration - listening to the vows, celebrating with cake and music. This week the children in Lower Key Stage 2 went back in time to the Tudors through their 'magic moment' linked to their History topic; they enjoyed a range of events typical of the time including Tudor dance and making pottage. Thank you for ensuring your child looked the part in their costume.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend and look forward to seeing lots of you next week for our Christmas performances; these moments with the children are so precious and we hope to create some fond memories for you.

Headteacher
Each week in our whole school assembly we celebrate children's attendance by playing a game of Attendopoly (based on Monopoly). The class with the highest attendance figure is rewarded with a class prize.
The winning class for the last week was:
Week of 17th November : Macaws class with 99.7% attendance
Whole school attendance : 95.9%
Week of 25th November : Hummingbirds class with 98.7% attendance
Whole school attendance : 96.9%
Our whole school target attendance for this academic year across all classes is 97%.

Thank you to those parents/carers who have offered to help on the Santa's float on Sunday 14th December.

Thanks in advance for your continued support.
The FALLS team and Santa
The children have had two exciting sustainability-themed assemblies recently. This week, the eco-reps introduced 'Energy Sparks' to the children: a platform that will track our energy usage and give us practical energy saving tips! The children have also been introduced to a sustainability-themed reading challenge where they can select books to read which link to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This is another way to encourage children to read for pleasure while giving them the opportunity to learn more about sustainable development. Your child may bring one of these books home to share with you before returning it to the sustainability library.
The kitchen will be covering a special menu for the last week of this term (week commencing 15th December). This is a change to the advertised menu. All meals will need to be ordered via MCAS (whether paid for or not).
Please ensure that you notify the school (via the absence line on the school phone rather than by email) if your child is absent from school for any reason. If we are not notified of the reason for a child's absence, the absence will be recorded as unauthorised and will count against overall school absences for the year, culminating in a fine if a child misses 10 or more sessions (5 days) of unauthorised absence.
