Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been a wonderful fortnight of learning across the school. I have had the pleasure of observing incredible teaching and learning and monitoring behaviour for learning across the school both of which are important focuses for us at the start of the year in order to ensure there is a calm and productive working environment for the children. I have also been proud to host our first open day for prospective parents hoping to join our Reception cohort in September 2025. I was delighted to showcase the wonderful learning environment on offer to the children and look forward to meeting many more new families over the next two open days which are now almost fully booked.
There continues to be lots of fantastic opportunities which bring the learning to life for the children with more experiences planned before we break for half term.
PSHE workshops for children in Years 3 - 6 focusing on peer pressure, healthy bodies, compromising with others
Local area History walk for children in LKS2
Local area walk for Reception children to look at the housing in our local area
Bikeability for children in Year 4 and 5
You can find out more about events such as these by following our social media channels, Facebook and X (formally Twitter) and in the photos below.
The children were very excited in assembly last week when I revealed to them that we have some new members of Lark Rise - 4 guinea pigs! Floss, who was our previous school guinea pig has now retired from school life and is living happily with Miss Cameron and her family. We now have 4 male guinea pigs waiting for some new names. The children's excitement hit an all time high when I explained that we would be giving the children the opportunity to take them home at weekends/holidays with parents' consent - there were shrieks of delight! More information to follow if you are interested in looking after our guinea pigs.
Finally, it was lovely to see the parents and carers of Eagles class in assembly today for our first class assembly of the year. The children showcased their learning beautifully - well done everyone!
I hope you all have a lovely weekend with your families and look forward to seeing you next week; fingers crossed for some dry weather!

We will shortly be holding our half termly sports and house assembly. As well as celebrating the winning house and exploring our sports values, we also like to celebrate children's sporting achievements outside of school. If your child has a sporting success that they would like to share with us, then please email over a photo along with the reason for us to share.
Your emails will need to be with us by 9:00am on Monday 14th October in order to be included in the assembly.
Our piano teacher, Jemma Graham, has recently completed a charity bike ride where she cycled from Land’s End to John O’Groats with 800 other riders all raising money for their chosen charities.
Jemma completed 980 miles over the course of 9 days, (averaging at 105 miles per day) from Cornwall to Scotland and camped each night.
The ride was an incredible experience and certainly came with its challenges (UK weather!) but the people and scenery along the way made it thoroughly enjoyable.
Jemma is delighted to have raised £1350 for Mind Mental Health charity. The link is still open if anybody would like to donate:
This chart highlights the importance of regular school attendance.
Each week in our whole school assembly we celebrate children's attendance by playing a game of Attendopoly (based on Monopoly). The class with the highest attendance figure is rewarded with a class prize.
The winning class for the last week was:
Week of 16th September : Falcons class with 100% attendance
Whole school attendance : 96.3%
Week of 23rd September : Robins class with 99.1% attendance
Whole school attendance : 97%
Our whole school target attendance for this academic year across all classes is 97%.
