Dear Parents and Carers,
The children have been working exceptionally hard over the last fortnight and visitors to the school from Chiltern Learning Trust and trainee teachers have been bowled over by the quality of learning on offer to the children and the high expectations across every area of school life.
A big well done to all of the children across Year 6 who took part in mock assessments last week. As always they impressed us with their focus and drive to achieve the best that they can.
The children across the school have experienced some fantastic enrichment opportunities in the form of 'magic moments' over the last fortnight. Science week was a huge hit following the theme 'curiosity, what's your question' which incorporated a Lark Rise whole school Jamboard - record breaking. Yesterday our KS1 children were fortunate enough to experience an open top bus ride round London to consolidate their learning about the capital city - magic moments don't get much better than that and how lucky were we with the weather! Thank you to all of our parents and carers who accompanied us on the trip which made it possible. Last week EYFS were excited to invite all the special ladies in their life into school in recognition of Mother's Day. We hope that everyone who visited enjoyed themselves.
Thank you for supporting Red Nose day this week and ensuring your child was dressed for the occasion. Collectively we managed to raise £290.30 for this worthy cause which is fantastic! Well done everyone!
This week finished off with a fantastic class assembly from Parrots Class; it was great to see how creative they've been across their learning this half term and I absolutely loved their confidence when speaking to an audience. Thank you to all of our parents and carers that attended.
I hope you all have a great weekend with your families and look forward to seeing you all next week for the last week of the Spring term! Where has this academic year gone?!
Mrs Romina Lang
Headteacher
Each week in our whole school assembly we celebrate children's attendance by playing a game of Attendopoly (based on Monopoly). The class with the highest attendance figure is rewarded with a class prize.
The winning class for the last couple of weeks was:
Week of 2nd March : Penguins and Falcons classes with 100% attendance
Whole school attendance : 97.15%
Week of 9th March : Eagles class with 100% attendance
Whole school attendance : 98.1%
Our whole school target attendance for this academic year across all classes is 97%.
There will be an opportunity for parents/carers to come into school to look at the childrens' books on Thursday 30th April from 5.00-6.00pm.
For parents of children in the Nursery, the Nursery staff will be arranging an open event during school hours for you to see your child in their learning environment, details and timings of which will be sent out after Easter.
Your child should have come home today with their mid year report card. These show a prediction of what your child's attainment will be at the end of the academic year and current attendance report.
Summer Party
After the success of previous years, we will once again be organising a Lark Rise summer party. This year's event will take place on Friday 3rd July from 1.30 - 3.30pm on the school field. Further details will follow after Easter but in the meantime, please save the date. If any parents/carers work for any companies which offer match funding for monies raised, please contact the school office. Additionally if there are any companies who could donate prizes for a raffle we would be delighted to receive them.
The FALLS team are organising an Easter Craft event on Thursday 26th March from 3.30-4.30pm. Tickets must be pre-purchased on MCAS at a cost of £4.50 per child.
