Dear Parents and Carers,
The children have been working exceptionally hard over the last fortnight and visitors to the school have been bowled over by the ambitious curriculum that we provide for the children and how they are rising to the challenge of our high expectations across every area of school life. We are looking forward to sharing our Ofsted report with you all when it arrives. Our children love learning, try their best and are resilient; we honestly can't ask any more of them than that. We are extremely proud of the culture of learning that we have built for our children and the opportunities that we provide for them. We love them all as individuals! Thank you for all of the well wishes that we received during the school inspection last week; your kindness is really felt across the whole school!
Thank you for supporting Red Nose day this week and ensuring your child was dressed for the occasion. Collectively we managed to raise £365 for this worthy cause which is fantastic! Well done everyone!
A big well done to all of the children across Year 5 and Year 6 who took part in mock assessments this week. As always they impressed us with their focus and drive to achieve the best that they can.
This week finished off with a fantastic class assembly from Parrots Class; it was great to see how creative they've been across their learning this half term and I absolutely loved their confidence when speaking to an audience. Thank you to all of our parents and carers that attended.
I hope you all have a great weekend with your families and look forward to seeing you all next week for the last 2 weeks of the spring term! Where has this academic year gone?!
Mrs Romina Lang
Headteacher
Each week in our whole school assembly we celebrate children's attendance by playing a game of Attendopoly (based on Monopoly). The class with the highest attendance figure is rewarded with a class prize.
The winning class for the last couple of weeks was:
Week of 3rd March : Hawks class with 100% attendance
Whole school attendance : 97.6%
Week of 10th March : Hawks class with 100% attendance
Whole school attendance : 97.4%
Our whole school target attendance for this academic year across all classes is 97%.
FALLS Disco
The FALLS team has rescheduled the Valentine's Disco which unfortunately had to be cancelled due to the issues with the hall roof. This will now be an Easter disco and will take place on
Monday 31st March
5.00 - 6.00pm : Reception & KS1
6.15 - 7.15pm : KS2
All previously purchased tickets will be valid for the new date. If you did not purchase a ticket, payment can be made on the door. We will have a list of those who have already paid.
Aspens Big Lunch
Our school catering contractor (Aspens) will be organising a Big Lunch on Thursday 1st May where they will be offering a FREE lunch for ALL children and staff. This will however need to be ordered via Parentmail by Wednesday 23rd April so that the kitchen can place their food orders.
Lark Rise Academy is keen to promote safe cycling and scooting and Central Bedfordshire Council have a School Active Travel Officer (Siobhan McSwiggan) who will be working with children and staff to encourage safe, healthy travel.
“Dr Bike” will be at school on Thursday 27th March to carry out bike safety checks and minor repairs. There is no charge for this.
Please note – the safety check is not the same as taking a bike for a service, and they will only be able to carry out limited repairs. Where they cannot repair a bike, they will advise you of the faults so you can take the bike to a local bike shop to have it fixed.

In readiness for the School Street which will start on 24th April, the children have been invited to enter a competition to design a poster advertising it. This has been added to Google Classroom for them with a deadline of 31st March should they wish to take part. Alternatively paper copies of the template are available in the school office.
Summer Uniform
After the Easter holiday (from 23rd April), children in Upper Key Stage 2 can wear a white polo shirt instead of the white collared shirt and tie (no ties are needed in the summer term). Children in Year 6 should however hang onto their school ties as they will be needed for the end of year leavers ceremony.
