Dear Parents and Carers,Â
We are fully in our assessment zone at Lark Rise and this week saw the start of the assessment period with our Year 6 children completing their Standard Assessment Tests (SATs). I have been so proud of their focus and concentration to date; they are a fantastic cohort of children who have tried their very best throughout the year and this week was no exception. Governors of Lark Rise and members of Chiltern Learning Trust staff visiting to support the invigilating of the tests commented on how smoothly SATs week was run and the exemplary attitudes and behaviour of the children. The children all presented as calm and focused and we cannot ask any more of them than that! Their resilience and determination is astounding and we hope that they can take these attitudes with them as they face new challenges at secondary school. We were delighted to reward the children with a trip to the zoo today in recognition of their hard work which they thoroughly deserve. Thank you to all of our parents and carers for the support you have given your child at home in order to make sure they were confident and well prepared for these assessments; your support is hugely appreciated. Finally, a thank you to the whole staff team who all play a part in ensuring the children are well equipped with the knowledge and skills as they move through the school in order to demonstrate what they have learnt during these tests; everyone contributes to this. A special thank you to Mrs Francis and Mrs True along with the rest of the Upper Key Stage 2 team who have supported the children so well this year, both academically and socially, they are an incredible team who always put the needs of all the children first and strive for every child to reach their full potential.Â
With one more week to go, this half term has gone by in a flash! I am sure that you will all make the most of the week off with your children. The final half of the summer term is set to be filled with many more exciting learning opportunities and magic moments for the children - watch this space!
I hope you all have a lovely weekend and I look forward to seeing you next week.
Mrs Romina Lang
Headteacher
Each week in our whole school assembly we celebrate children's attendance by playing a game of Attendopoly (based on Monopoly). The class with the highest attendance figure is rewarded with a class prize.Â
The winning class for the last couple of weeks was:Â
Week of 28th April :Â Hummingbirds & Red Kites classes with 100% attendance
Whole school attendance :Â 97.3%Â
Week of 5th May :Â Robins, Falcons, Eagles & Peacocks classes with 100% attendance
Whole school attendance :Â 98.5%Â
Our whole school target attendance for this academic year across all classes is 97%.
Next week we will be holding our half termly sports and house assembly. As well as celebrating the winning house and exploring our sports values, we also like to celebrate children's sporting achievements outside of school. If your child has a sporting success that they would like to share with us since the last assembly we hosted in March, then please email over a photo along with the reason for us to share.Â
Your emails will need to be with us by 9:00am on Monday 19th May in order to be included in the assembly.Â
The school photographer will be in school on Wednesday 21st May to take whole class photographs. Children should wear their school uniform on this day including shirts and ties for children in Upper Key Stage 2. If your child has PE on this day, they should come into school in their uniform and bring their PE kit to change at school.
From 1st September 2025, there will be a small increase to the cost of both breakfast and after school clubs. Breakfast club will increase from ÂŁ4.50 to ÂŁ5 per session and after school clubs will increase from ÂŁ3 to ÂŁ3.50 per session.Â
If you wish to order school uniform online, please use the QR code above to place an order with Price & Buckland. Order by 1st August for delivery before the start of the new academic year.Â
Miss Spokes will be starting her maternity leave shortly after the May half term holiday – all being well, she will be in school for the first two weeks of next half term.
We are delighted to have Miss Qureshi joining the Lark Rise team. Miss Qureshi has been completing her teacher training year with us this year, working closely with the LKS2 team so knows the children well already.
