Dearest students and families,

I am happy to welcome you to the 2023-2024 school year! My name is Lynda M. Martinez and I am the school counselor at J. A. Kawas Elementary. My aim is to help all students realize their full potential by providing support in the areas of academics, career, and social emotional development.

My role as a counselor includes working with students through individual counseling, group counseling, and guidance lessons. I work hand in hand with administration, teachers, staff, and parents in order to foster the overall healthy development of our students. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to working together with you to help your child succeed.

The last tab will take you to our virtual calming room. This virtual calming room is a place for students, families and staff to find strategies, tools and activities to manage emotions and feelings. Hopefully, this will be a place to get away and take a short (or long) break to ease your minds.
