In our classroom, we strive to have positive attitudes while learning and engaging through whole group lessons and small group/individual work time. We strive to have positive relationships with our peers by creating a fun and welcoming environment, that encourages each other to try new and challenging problems and ask each other for help!

Laporte 5th Grade Cell Phone & Other Personal Technology Policy 

5th grade students who bring a personal cell phone or other technology devices to school will be required to place them into a bucket at the start of every school day during attendance and will be returned at the end of the day during dismissal.  Students do not need these devices for class, lunch, in the hallway, or recess, as per our new school cell phone policy. They are safer in a bucket by my desk than in their unlocked lockers.  They are less of a distraction or temptation being in a bucket as well.  This has been our 5th grade policy for several years now and it has worked great. If I find that students are not placing their devices in the bucket at the start of their day then they will be confiscated and returned only to parents or guardians who come to pick them up at their convenience. I do take this very seriously and thank you in advance for your support as parents and guardians. As always, please contact me with any questions!
