DAIA for Staff, A Special Cohort

In 2020, as many Library projects and programs shifted to an online platform, so did the DAIA program. With administration support and many LAPL staff working from home, the idea arose to pilot allowing LAPL staff to join the apprenticeship program during work time. Requirements included: 

• LAPL employees who are currently enrolled in library school. 

• As space permits, current undergraduates or recent (and impending) college graduates who possess a strong desire to become a librarian will also be considered. 

• You may also recommend library school graduates, provided they are library employees.

As 2026 there are over many staff that particpated in DAIA for staff have graduated from the an MLIS/MLS program and are working as librarians at LAPL and other organizations throughout LA County.
