About the Library

Library Mission Statement

The Laona Library strives to develop life-long learners who are effective users of information. This mission will be accomplished by:

        • Fostering the spirit of inquiry.
        • Promoting digital citizenship.
        • Teaching students to assess, manage, use, and share information in the 21st Century.
        • Collaborating with other educators to design learning strategies that support the curriculum.
        • Providing access to learning resources in a variety of formats.
        • Inspiring a love and appreciation of reading.

Unique Partnership

Our library is unique in that it is combined with the Edith Evans Community Library. Miss Felicia, the public librarian, is in the library all day available to assist patrons and students when I am not physically in the library. Because of this we have access to a number of great programs and activities that our students and community benefit from. The Public library celebrated its centennial in March of 2016 and along with the school, is one of the cornerstone organizations of the community. Stop in and see what programs are currently being offered or sign up for a library card today!
