Article 1. Organizer:
Sands Beach Active S.L organizes the Font Vella Lanzarote International Marathon to be held on Saturday, December 5, 2026.
Article 2.
The 35th edition of the Font Vella Lanzarote International Marathon is open to all individuals who wish to participate, provided they are at least 18 years old on the day of the event. Participants under 18 are allowed for the 10 km race if they are at least 14 years old and have prior authorization from their parents or legal guardians in both cases.
The categories will be as follows:
Marathon (42.195 meters)
Half Marathon (21.0975 meters)
10,000 meters.
Article 3: Start
The race will start at 8:00 AM and will finish at 2:00 PM, with the official maximum time to complete the race being 6h:00:00, and this time limit cannot be exceeded under any circumstances.
The Font Vella Lanzarote International Marathon is scheduled to have a conventional start.
The organization reserves the right to modify the start method, among other reasons, for safety, organization, and/or logistics. In that case, affected participants will be notified in advance for proper organization and preparation of the event.
The official maximum time limit for completing the race is 6h00:00, and the following time limits are established at 2 cutoff points according to the departure schedule:
For marathon runners:
First cutoff: Puerto del Carmen (at the turnaround point, covering 21km):
CUTOFF TIME: 3:00:00 (at 11:00 PM)
Second cutoff: Arrecife (past the camel's tip at the beginning of Fred Olsen Avenue):
CUTOFF TIME: 4h 30:00 (at 12:30)
Any runner who has not passed the cutoff points within the allotted time will be automatically disqualified, and the athlete must return the chip (located on the back of the bib) to the organization.
Article 4: Registration.
Registration must be done online at the following website: http://www.lanzaroteinternationalmarathon.com/
Registrations will be open until the day before the race, as long as the available spots for each distance have not been filled. Registrants from November 26, 2026, will not have their personalized bib and will also not be able to purchase the personalized t-shirt.
The registration costs will vary as the event approaches. The prices for each phase are stipulated on the race registration platform,
Registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable, outside the deadlines established on the platform.
The Organization reserves the right to close registrations when deemed necessary, as well as the right of admission.
Article 5: Delivery of bib numbers and runner's bag: The bib/chip is personal and non-transferable, and must be placed on the chest without manipulation or folding. Failure to comply with this article will result in disqualification. The bib/chip will be delivered exclusively in person upon presenting the QR code received days prior to the delivery, and if not available, the passport or ID, at the EXPO AREA - parking of Los Charcos, from Wednesday, December 2 (from 10:00 to 18:30), Thursday, December 3, and Friday, December 4, from 09:00 to 20:00 (continuously). The organization reserves the right to change the location of the bib number collection.
No bib numbers will be given to those who do not meet the requirements set by the Organization.
Participants who are not registered for the event or run without a bib will not be admitted by the Organization, preventing them from accessing the race in defense of the rights of those who are officially registered. Additionally, access will not be allowed for unauthorized vehicles, for the safety of the runners.
The Judges of the event and the Organization reserve the right to disqualify any offender who, upon verification of any irregularity by a participant, does not visibly wear their bib, manipulates it and/or transfers it to another, alters the information provided to the Organization or the Referee Judge regarding what is stated on their ID or federation record, does not complete the entire course, shows poor physical condition, does not provide the required documentation to the Organization, or violates any other rule outlined in the RFEA and IAAF Regulations.
There will be time controls along the route. Only those participants who complete the race with the bib/chip provided by the Organization, which will be registered in the Organization's timing system, will appear in the classification. The runner is obliged to check the proper functioning of their bib/chip at the location where the timer will be at the bib collection point.
The timing system of the Lanzarote International Marathon is compatible with the My Laps system. Chips that are not provided by the Organization will not be accepted.
Article 6. Categories:
The age categories for the Lanzarote International Marathon are established as follows:
■ Senior: 16-34 years
■ Veteran A: 35-39 years
■ Veteran B: 40-44 years
■ Veteran C: 45-49 years
■ Veteran D: 50-54 years
■ Veteran E: 55-59 years
■ Veteran F: 60-64 years
■ Veteran G: 65-69 years
■ Veteran H: Over 70 years
* All indicated ages must be reached in the calendar year.
Article 7:
Classification:
7.1- The classification is established as follows:
Marathon:
■ General classification for men and women.
Trophy for the top 3 and cash prize for the top 3.
Commemorative medal for all who finish the race.
Half marathon:
General classification for men and women.
Trophy for the top 3 and gift for the top 3.
Commemorative medal for all who finish the race.
10 km:
General classification for men and women.
Trophy for the top 3 and gift for the top 3.
Commemorative medal for all who finish the race.
Special "Conejero"
■ General classification for men and women in the half marathon and marathon categories
First man and first woman born in Lanzarote, even if they do not reside on the island.
Age categories
■ General classification for men and women in the marathon category
All trophies that are not collected on the day of the event will be available to the runners, who must claim them from the organization at Sands Beach Resort (Avenida Islas Canarias, 18 – 35508 – Costa Teguise – Teguise – Lanzarote – Las Palmas – Islas Canarias – Spain) until December 19, 2025. After this date, they will be available to the organization, understanding that they are forfeiting them.
The prizes and trophies are NOT cumulative (except for the special "Conejero" prize)
7.2– To be eligible for the special "Conejero" prize, it is necessary to have specified that one was born in Lanzarote during the event registration. To collect the prize, it is necessary to show the ID for verification.
Article 8: Prizes: The following cash prizes are established:
For the Men's and Women's Marathon classification:
■ First.- 400€
■ Seconds.- 300€
■ Thirds.- 200€
* Winners must be present at the awards ceremony, go up to the podium, and take the official photo; otherwise, they will lose the right to collect the cash prize.
The prize will be awarded to the winning person. It is necessary to present an ID card or passport. Prizes will not be awarded to third parties.
Cash prizes do not include taxes, so a withholding tax will be applied at the time of withdrawal.
NOTICES AND OTHER CONSIDERATIONS:
Article 9.– It is strictly prohibited to throw bottles, glasses, and/or other used containers outside of the trash during the event. Violation of this rule may result in the immediate disqualification of the participant.
Disqualified participants are not eligible for prizes and/or trophies.
Article 10.– The kilometers will be marked along the route. There will be refreshment stations, including both liquid and solid food stations.
Article 11.– Medical services and ambulances will be coordinated by the Organization's medical team, as detailed in the Safety and Emergency Plan for the event.
All registered runners are required to fill in the back of their bib with their name, surname, emergency contact phone number, any medical issues (allergies, special needs, etc.) or if they are under any specific treatment, as well as their blood type.
Article 12.– During the event, participants are not allowed to bring pets, sticks, or any items that may hinder the attention to safety elements for the other participants.
Article 13.– The Organization disclaims all responsibility for damages, injuries, or harm that participants may suffer or cause to third parties during this event, as well as in the massage services offered afterward, although it has Accident and Civil Liability Insurance that will cover incidents inherent to the event.
Article 14.– Complaints must be made orally to the Referee Judge no later than 30 minutes after the official results are communicated.
Article 15.– By registering, all participants declare that they know and accept this Regulation and the Disclaimer of Responsibilities and Data Protection. In case of doubt, the Organization's criteria will prevail.
Disclaimer of Responsibilities and Protection
By simply registering, the participant declares the following:
“I am in optimal health to participate in the Font Vella Lanzarote International Marathon. Furthermore, I release the Organization, sponsors, or other participating institutions from any responsibility for any accident or injury I may suffer before, during, and/or after the sporting event, waiving any legal action against any of these entities.
During the competition, I will contribute as much as possible to the Organization to avoid personal accidents. I also authorize the Organization to use for advertising purposes photos, videos, and any other type of audiovisual material in which I may appear, accepting the publication of my name in the event's classification, in the media and/or on the Internet, without expecting any payment, compensation, or remuneration for this concept.”
Article 16.– By registering for the Font Vella Lanzarote International Marathon, participants consent to Sands Beach Active, either directly or through third parties, processing their personal data automatically and exclusively for sporting, promotional, or commercial purposes.
According to what is established in Organic Law 15/1999, of December 13, on the Protection of Personal Data, you can exercise your rights of access, cancellation, rectification, or opposition in writing at the following address: (Avenida Islas Canarias, 18 – 35508 – Costa Teguise – Teguise – Lanzarote – Las Palmas – Canary Islands – Spain), indicating in all cases the Reference: “Data protection” and accompanying some document that proves your identity, such as a copy of your ID card or passport.
Furthermore, in accordance with the sports interests, promotion, distribution, and exploitation of the Lanzarote International Marathon worldwide (reproduction of photographs from the event, publication of classification lists, etc.) through any device (Internet, advertising, etc.) and without time limit, the participants expressly grant the organization the right to reproduce their name and surname, the position obtained in the overall classification, the participant's own category, the sports mark achieved, and their image.
The Organization reserves the right to make any changes to these regulations if deemed necessary, and must communicate such changes on the website and in the runner's information.
Article 17.– In the event of fortuitous circumstances or force majeure that prevent the celebration of the event, the Organization as well as all collaborators are released from all demands, responsibilities, or possible compensations, as well as from any type of requirements.Fortuitous circumstances or force majeure are understood to include, among others: fires, tremors, earthquakes, tsunamis, landslides, avalanches, floods, hurricanes, storms, extreme weather conditions, explosions, unforeseeable fortuitous events, armed conflicts, wars, terrorist acts, sabotage, civil unrest, blockades, uncontrollable delays in transportation, strikes, work stoppages, inability to obtain, despite having anticipated it, adequate facilities for the transportation of materials, equipment, and services, as well as the authorizations, approvals, licenses, and permits from the competent authorities; or any other cause that could jeopardize the safety of event attendees or the general public, whether similar or different from those specifically listed here, that are beyond reasonable control and could not be foreseen or that, having been foreseen, could not be avoided, all of this once the official registrations have opened and the corresponding payment has been made.
FINAL CONSIDERATION: Everything not provided for in these Regulations shall be governed by the General Competition Rules of the Canary Athletics Federation, RFEA, IAAF, for the current season.
