Any submission made after that period of time will be unable to compete.
The prize? Fame! (Publication on the Pen & Paw website) Fortune! (A free book from Ms. DaMetz's bookshelf) & Bragging rights to all your friends!
NOTE: We also read some of our winning poems out loud at our NEHS Induction ceremony.
Story MUST be school appropriate, content must not use curse words, show extreme/graphic violence, or intense intimacy between characters. Any stories that contain offensive content will be forwarded to both administration and caregivers of the student that wrote it.
Stories should be no longer than three pages, single spaced. Font should be no smaller that 12pt, type of font is completely up to the writer.
No submissions using plagiarized work or AI writing will be accepted.Â
Only one submission allowed per student for each contest. Multiple submissions will not be permitted.
Judges shall remain anonymous for each contest. We reserve the right to their privacy.
There will be a winner announced the following Tuesday of the contest, as well as a runner up.
Prize is a publication of your story on the NEHS website and distribution to student body (either anonymously or not- that is up to the writer).
NEHS ONLY: If you submit a story, you can receive a half hour credit towards your NEHS membership and lettering.
NEHS ONLY: Story submissions are not a requirement of NEHS.
At the end of the day, this is meant to be a fun, stress-free activity. Help us keep it that way!
