When it comes to applying to university, different university systems and universities themselves may have different additional examination requirements (in addition to IGCSEs and A Levels) that students will need to undertake and pay for outside of school.

These generally fall into 3 different exams/exam types:

• English Language Proficiency - IELTS, TOEFL, Duolingo English Test (DET)

• SATs

• Additional subject specific examinations (such as the BMAT/UCAT for Medicine)
