I’m Mrs. Skelton, and I’m thrilled to begin my 17th year of teaching and my 7th year here at Langston Charter. Throughout my career, I’ve taught all levels of middle school English Language Arts and have loved every minute of helping students grow as readers, writers, and critical thinkers.
One of the things I love most about teaching at Langston is the students—it’s a joy to teach such curious, thoughtful, and capable learners. I also value the freedom to curate my curriculum in ways that best fit the needs and interests of my students. This flexibility allows me to be creative, responsive, and student-centered in my approach to teaching.
What truly makes teaching special for me, though, are the relationships. I love getting to know my students as individuals, being part of their lives, and watching them grow not just academically, but personally. It’s incredibly meaningful to keep in touch with former students and cheer them on as they move through high school, college, and beyond.
I’m a proud graduate of Clemson University—Go Tigers!—and I love visiting campus with my family whenever we can. I’m currently working toward my Master’s in Instructional Technology at Gardner-Webb University and look forward to bringing new ideas and strategies into the classroom.
Outside of school, I’ve been happily married for 19 years and am the proud mom of two amazing daughters. My oldest is a varsity cheerleader at Fountain Inn High School, and my youngest is passionate about competitive dance and is a member of the Fountain Inn High School dance team. As a family, we love being near the water—whether it’s at the lake, the beach, or the pool. We also love to travel and explore new places whenever we get the chance—and always wish we could do it more often!
I’m so excited to get to know each of my students and their families this year. Let’s make it a great one!
