Principal's Message:

Harvest Festival

This week we celebrated our annual Harvest festival and once again we were incredibly grateful for the many kind donations. The celebration was led by Reverend Mark and we had some very helpful Year 6's aiding him in sharing the key messages behind Harvest. The children enjoyed singing the two harvest songs that they have been practicing; Cauliflowers Fluffy (a classic) and the Harvest Song to the tune of George Ezra's Shotgun (a favourite of Reverend Mark's). It was a thoroughly enjoyable occasion.

Google Classroom (Y1 - Y6)

We have noticed that there is less uptake on our Google Classroom with fewer children joining than we usually see. The Google Classroom is often where the children's current learning is posted and their homework shared so it is important that the children have access to it. The children's logins have already been shared, however, if you do have challenges accessing it from home, please do contact the academy and we would gladly help.

Have a lovely weekend.

Miss Brading

Office Reminders:

Local Traffic and Parking

From as early as 2.30pm, local roads around the estate are becoming blocked by cars arriving early to collect children from the academy. We are receiving a number of complaints from residents as a result of this, who are unable to access their own homes due to cars parked on the roads waiting to come through our gates at pick up time.

The main gates are opened at 3.00pm each day and, due to our statutory obligations to safeguard all pupils and staff on site, these cannot be opened earlier. There are a small number of staff who are not classroom-based and are therefore available to open the gates at the end of the day. Occasionally, these staff may all be busy at the same time dealing with important matters and situations within the school. The safety and wellbeing of our pupils will always come first and we therefore ask that consideration and understanding are given when there is a small delay in the main gates being opened at the end of the academy day; there is always a valid, unavoidable reason when this happens. Whilst we appreciate that delays of this kind can be frustrating, verbal abuse of any kind towards any member of LPPA staff will never be tolerated.

We would ask that parents and carers please walk to the academy to collect your child(ren) where at all possible. Alternatively, please do not arrive at the site until 3pm when the gates are opened and vehicular access provided, as this will prevent a long queue of stationary traffic forming around the estate. We are incredibly lucky at LPPA to have a carpark that accommodates so many vehicles. Indeed, many local schools do not allow vehicles on site, with some not even having a carpark at all. It remains as important as ever to respect our local neighbours and residents; thank you in advance for anticipated support with this matter.

Finally, please can I ask that cars are not double parked within the carpark, in particular in the staff parking area. Many of our staff have to leave the site promptly at the end of their working day to collect their own children and this becomes difficult when others have parked behind their vehicles. Please do bear this in mind if you are bringing your vehicle onto the academy site. Thank you.

Contacting the class teachers:

If you have concerns that you would like to raise with the academy, please do so via the school office email address on contactus@langleyparkprimaryacademy.org.uk and it will be directed to the relevant members of staff.
