It has been a very cold week this week but at least we have blue skies and the sun shining! With this, the children are wearing their warm hats, scarves and gloves to stay insulated. To ensure these lovely items remain with their owner; please label every item of clothing that your child brings to school.
The children are well underway now with the new units of inquiry and they are often very keen to share the links they are making in their learning. As a staff team, we recently learned even more about cognitive science which is all about how we commit new information, knowledge and skills to our long term memory; making learning stick. One of the key things to help this happen is to build on what the children already know so their learning is relevant and purposeful. The beauty of the PYP approach is that it is fundamentally built upon children making connections between what they learned yesterday, last week, last month and even last year.
Next week, we have lots exciting events taking place including the sponsored athlete visit and play leader training for our year 5 pupils so keep an eye out for next week's edition on how that all went.
Don't forget to share the children's good news stories from outside of school for our Langley Park Legends section!

This week I have been using my special 'dog tunnel' when working with different children across the school. The children have been teaching me the command 'through'. I have loved going 'through' the tunnel to find my treat!
In Reception, the children have been learning about the properties of ice and with this they explored capacity. I was really good at making the different containers 'empty' by drinking the water! I have been working with Jubilee and Pazazz about protecting our mental health and what we can do to support this. I had to be a very calming influence during these sessions!
Take a look at my snow beard! I have been a cheeky pup this week!

Even before Covid-19, modern life had created an epidemic of anxiety, with high stress levels damaging the health of millions. To mark the start of Stress Awareness Month, we’re joining in with the Stress Management Society’s 30-day challenge. Below, we’ve given you 30 tips to get you started: each day, simply pick a stress-busting action to complete from our categories and give your physical, mental and emotional wellbeing a lift.
