Principal's Message:

We've made it to Friday! There's been lots going this week as usual!

At the beginning of the week, our football team attended the Maidstone United Football Tournament. They did incredibly well and won their group in the tournament but unfortunately got knocked out in the next round.

We have also had some of our Year 6 children completing their Bikeability course to ensure that they can ride confidently and safely on the roads and make safe decisions. It is such an important skill for life.

You may have seen that we have had a special visitor around the school...Shaun the Sheep! He has been ever so cheeky and hiding in different places. Keep an eye out on our Facebook page to see what he gets up to next.

Our lunchtime OPAL provision continues to grow with lots more zones being opened. Thank you so much for your donations as this is enabling us to develop our play provision rapidly. If you would like to share any feedback about it, please do email in.

A few reminders for next week. We have a number of events coming up that we would love a high level of parent engagement. All of the dates and times are shared later in our newsletter but ones of particular note are:

We can't wait to see lots of our parents coming into the school. You may even get a glimpse of Shaun the Sheep!

We have noticed increasing numbers of children who walk by themselves going to Costa, Aldi and Subway to purchase food and drink on the way to school. In some cases, it appears to be in addition to the food sent in from home. Unfortunately, the food and drink choices being made by the children are not particularly very healthy so please do take the time to discuss this with your child so that they are having a balanced diet.

And finally, we say farewell to Mrs Welch (Year 2 LSA) today. We thank Mrs Welch for all that she has done in supporting the children and wish her good luck at her new job.

Thank you for your continued support of the school and have a lovely weekend.

Miss Brading

Office Reminders:

We have seen a noticeable reduction in the number of parents and carers that the academy office are having to contact each day to establish a reason for their child's absence. This in turn reduces the amount of time that staff have to spend trying to make contact with parents/carers for this information and this time can therefore be used more productively within the academy. Thank you to those of you that are supporting this and it is particularly great to see the text absence service and My Child at School messaging system being utilised in the way they are intended to be.

Contacting the class teachers:

If you have concerns that you would like to raise with the academy, please do so via the office email address which is contactus@langleyparkprimaryacademy.org.uk. Upon receipt, your email will be directed to the relevant member(s) of staff.

We respectfully ask that you address any concerns or issues with your child's class teacher in the first instance. If it remains unresolved then your concern will then be escalated to Mrs Neame, Vice Principal. In the unlikely event that it continues to remain unresolved, it will be escalated to Miss Brading at that point.

We are also aware that some parents continue to email staff directly. In the event that this happens, staff have been asked to forward your email to the aforementioned email address to resume communication via the correct channels.

National Online Safety Guide

Fake news can be false information, photos or videos purposefully created to confuse or misinform. It can also be genuine information that has been manipulated to decieve. It is important that children learn how to distinguish between real news and fake news in order that they don't inadvertantly share something which isn't true or believe something that could be misleading.

In the guide below you will find tips on a number of potential risks such as embarrassment, negative influences on people's behaviour and negative emotions.

A reminder that all of our parent/carer community are invited to create an account with National Online Safety, which provides a wide range of resources such as the guides we include in our newsletters, courses and video resources.
