Theme of the Fortnight

As part of our theme of the fortnight we have focussed the remembering and reflecting aspect of our theme through acknowledging Remembrance Day. During assembly, we looked at the meaning of Remembrance Day, how it is acknowledged and who we remember at this time. We also had the opportunity to explore careers within the army. The children were able to maturely discuss why it is important that we pause on Remembrance Day and how it is important to us.

As part of our two minute silence, Tomi and Harvey from Year 6 read out "In Flanders Fields" and we listened to music while watching different pictures depicting Remembrance Day.

On Remembrance Day itself, we came together as a whole school community to take part in the two minute silence. Children who belong to groups such as Rainbows, Brownies, Cubs, Beavers and Scouts wore their uniforms with pride.
