Principal's Message:

We have had trips galore this week with Year 6 children going to visit the Kent Police College for an open day and Year R pupils practicing the sea shanties when they became pirates for the day at Chatham Dockyard! We also had representatives of our academy at the LAT Sports Day today, they have had a brilliant day and were exceptional ambassadors for the academy.

A number of our Year 6 pupils have attended transition days and events at their new secondary schools throughout the week to help prepare them for September. It sounds as though they have had a brilliant time. Next week we will be holding our own transition events, for our new Reception cohort through to our current Year 5 children who will be going into Year 6 next year. This is a great opportunity for the children to familiarise themselves with the adults they will be working with and to ask any questions that will help them feel more settled going into the new academic year.

This Saturday is our PTFA school fete. The PTFA have worked very hard to make this happen for our community and so I hope to see lots of support for them tomorrow!

Have a lovely weekend.

Miss Brading

Office Reminders:

If you have a query about an attendance mark that is showing in your My Child at School app, please can we ask that you do not call the academy office before 10:00 to do this. With 445 children on roll at the academy, the period between 08:30 and 10:00 is extremely busy and it is important that staff are given the opportunity to carry out daily attendance and safeguarding procedures with as little additional interruption as possible.

It can take a considerable amount of time to check all of the emails, voice messages and texts received into the academy each morning as well as answer the phone to as many parents/carers as possible. Staff then have to attempt to contact the parent/carer of any child that is absent where no communication has been received to explain this, and update all attendance marks accordingly.

Thank you for your understanding and support with this, it is appreciated.

Contacting the class teachers:

If you have concerns that you would like to raise with the academy, please do so via the office email address which is contactus@langleyparkprimaryacademy.org.uk. Upon receipt, your email will be directed to the relevant member(s) of staff.

We respectfully ask that you address any concerns or issues with your child's class teacher in the first instance. If it remains unresolved then your concern will then be escalated to Mrs McRobb, Vice Principal. In the unlikely event that it continues to remain unresolved, it will be escalated to Miss Brading at that point.

We are also aware that some parents continue to email staff directly. In the event that this happens, staff have been asked to forward your email to the aforementioned email address to resume communication via the correct channels.

National Online Safety Guide

Conceived as giving independent content creators equal representation in the online space, Rumble has found something of a niche in restoring a voice to influencers who have been blocked from similar platforms. It's become particularly renowned as a forum for political debate, with some prominent account holders' choice of subject matter attracting a degree of notoriety.

Indeed, a recent study found that the platform's most popular topics included gun laws, the January 2021 Capital riots and Covid vaccines. Many parents and carers may feel that these sensitive topics - when addressed in a less-than-sensitive manner - aren't suitable for young users. The guide below attempts to get a feel for Rumble.
