Principal's Message:

Welcome back to Term 3! The new term has got off to a great start and I honestly would not expect anything less.

Despite the Christmas holiday being a very busy one with lots going on, the children have returned to school with impeccable attitudes and enthusiasm for their learning. It's also great to see so many classes with 100% attendance!

I had the pleasure to attend swimming this week with our Year 4 cohort. It was their first session and I came away feeling extraordinarily proud of each and every one of the children. They were exemplary in both their behaviour and their attitude to having a go.

There are a few trips and experiences coming up this term for year groups across the whole academy. We are aware, and very conscious of, the financial implication that this will have on families and so we are doing everything within our power to reduce costs as much as we can. It is important to note, however, that if we don't receive the full funds in to cover these then they will either have to be cancelled or the outstanding balance taken from elsewhere, thus impacting upon our ability to provide further trips and experiences. If you are experiencing financial challenges, it is really important that you reach out to us so that we can help or point you in the direction of other organisations who might be able to offer support. This cannot happen if we don't know, so communication is really important.

Whilst on the topic of communication, now is a great opportunity to remind our parent/carer community of the different communication channels that are in within the academy. Here are some of the ways that we share information and that you can get in contact;

Of course, there are also many ad-hoc conversations, interactions and communications that happen constantly at drop off and pick up times where are a number of staff are readily available.

Should you have any suggestions with regards to our channels of communication, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Have a lovely weekend.

Miss S Brading

Office Reminders:

A reminder that dogs are not permitted on the academy site at any time unless they are a working service dog.

Dog faeces are often found near to the academy entrance, both inside and outside of the main gates. Should this be relevant to you, please ensure that you pick up and responsibly dispose of any faeces left behind.

Contacting the class teachers:

If you have concerns that you would like to raise with the academy, please do so via the office email address which is contactus@langleyparkprimaryacademy.org.uk. Upon receipt, your email will be directed to the relevant member(s) of staff.

We respectfully ask that you address any concerns or issues with your child's class teacher in the first instance. If it remains unresolved then your concern will then be escalated to Mrs Neame, Vice Principal. In the unlikely event that it continues to remain unresolved, it will be escalated to Miss Brading at that point.

We are also aware that some parents continue to email staff directly. In the event that this happens, staff have been asked to forward your email to the aforementioned email address to resume communication via the correct channels.

National Online Safety Guide

Following a lengthy gestation period, the UK Government's wide-ranging changes to legislation around digital safeguarding became enshrined in law as the Online Safety Act in October 2023. The first of its kind in Britain and regulated by Ofcom, the act aims to improve protection for children online and clamp down on illegal material, primarily impacting social media platforms and companies which host user-generated content.

The new legislation, however, also carries implications for school and school staff. Although further developments are expected, the below guide summarises the main points of the act that schools need to be aware of so far by outlining some specific areas that the new laws address and what effect, in practical terms, this will have on educational providers.

A reminder that all of our parent/carer community are invited to create an account with National Online Safety, which provides a wide range of resources such as the guides we include in our newsletters, courses and video resources. If you have not already done so, please create your account by visiting the link below.
