As I sit down to write my first newsletter as Interim Principal of Leigh Academy Langley Park, I am filled with an overwhelming sense of pride. My first week here has been nothing short of wonderful; the warm welcome I have received from the children, staff and many of you at the school gate has made me feel truly at home.
I am excited to share some of the highlights from this week:
This week, our hall was transformed into a hub of activity as we welcomed A-life for health and fitness workshops. Every year group participated in these workshops, which are designed to teach the importance of staying active and making healthy nutritional choices. I was particularly impressed that during high-intensity circuit training, the children showed fantastic enthusiasm. It really was a joy to see them learning that looking after our bodies can be just as much fun as it is important.
I must also extend a huge congratulations to our incredible Young Voices choir, who travelled to the O2 Arena this week for the Young Voices concert. Standing among thousands of other children to perform was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Their conduct was exemplary and their voices were truly uplifting. Thank you to the staff who stayed late to ensure the children could take part in such an inspiring event - it is a memory I am sure they will cherish forever.
We are absolutely delighted to announce that our academy has achieved the Inclusion Quality Mark Centre of Excellence Award! This prestigious status recognises our unwavering commitment to inclusion as well as our success in ensuring every child feels valued and supported. This achievement is a tribute to the hard work of our staff, exceptional leadership from Mrs Comins, the enthusiasm of our pupils and the continued support of our families.
Whilst we have had much to celebrate, I would like to ask for your support regarding a more serious matter. This week, we have had to speak with our Key Stage 1 pupils regarding some intentional damage occurring in the KS1 toilets. We take great pride in providing a clean, safe and pleasant environment for our children to learn in. However, when academy property is mistreated, it impacts everyone. I would therefore be very grateful if you could reinforce the importance of respecting our academy building and looking after our shared environment with your children at home. We want all pupils to feel a sense of ownership and pride in their school.
Thank you for your continued partnership and for making my first week so memorable. I look forward to many more successful weeks ahead.
Mrs Smith
A reminder that the academy office is a very busy place in the morning. Should you wish to query an attendance mark showing for your child in My Child at School, or the balance showing on your child's dinner account, please wait until after 10:00 before calling or emailing to do so. This affords office staff the time to check all attendance and dinner registers.

We respectfully ask that you address any concerns or issues with your child's class teacher in the first instance. If it remains unresolved then your concern will then be escalated to the Key Stage Lead and/or Mrs Neame, Vice Principal. In the unlikely event that it continues to remain unresolved, it will be escalated to Miss Brading at that point.
