What a fantastic World Book Day we had this year! Instead of the usual costumes, our academy was transformed into a giant reading den as children (and staff!) arrived in their pyjamas. It set the perfect, relaxed tone for a day entirely dedicated to the joy of reading for pleasure.
We kicked off the day with an energetic whole-academy assembly focused on reading as a lifelong hobby. The highlight for many children was our "Book Taboo" game show, which had everyone cheering, and laughing. Well done to the children and teachers involved.
The reading buzz continued in the classrooms all day with some brilliant activities:
Mystery Reader: The school librarians (Molly H, Ollie V, Yasmina and Imani) visited each class to surprise them with a story throughout the week. The feedback they had from staff and children was extremely positive. Well done!
Class Teacher Swap: Our teachers went on tour! The children loved the surprise of having a different teacher visit their classroom to share a brilliant story.
The Masked Reader: A wonderful mystery took over the school, as children watched videos and tried to guess which disguised staff members were reading the stories on screen.
The Great Book Swap: Children loved browsing the stalls and walking away with a "new-to-them" book to dive into at home.
A Huge Thank You! We want to send a massive and heartfelt thank you to all families who generously donated books for our Book Swap. Your contributions ensured that our tables were fully stocked and that the children had a wonderful variety of books to choose from. We simply couldn't have run such a successful event without your incredible support of donated books to choose from.
