This week, the pupils in our Journalism Club shared their favourite books and invited staff members to reveal theirs. This also provided an opportunity for the children to proudly showcase the new layout of the library!
"My favourite book is called BACK OF THE NET by Eve Ainsworth. This is my favourite book because I love football and that is what it is about.
Eva’s football skill makes her stand out while playing at break-time at school, and her friends are desperate for her to join their local team, the Lightmoor lionesses. But Eva was bullied at her last school because of her illness, and she’s scared that the same thing will happen again if her new friends find out. She wants to hide away, but she still goes to the field and does what she loves."
"My favorite book is Hot Mess: Diary of a Wimpy Kid."
"Hot Mess is about a boy called Gregory who has gone on holiday with his whole family, and it always goes wrong, everyone plays pranks on each other. He also figures out his grandma's secret recipes for meatballs and at the end they almost go to prison!"
Miss Silva - "Down by The Cool of the Pool. Because it's like a musical and teaches children by using action."
Miss Cornwall - "It is called A Thousand Splendid suns by Khaled Hosseini. That is my favourite book because it helped me understand different cultures. It is a book about many stories, which are about family and friendship."
Miss Gibbs - "My favourite childhood book is The Magic Faraway Tree"
Mr Dodds - "Skellig" by David Almond is my favourite book. It's a wonderful story that mixes fantasy and reality, making it a great read for primary school children. The book follows Michael, who finds a strange creature named Skellig in his garage. As Michael faces challenges, including his baby sister's illness, readers are taken on a journey filled with friendship, hope, and magic."
Miss Murrell - My favourite childhood book is, The Wizard, the Fairy and the Magic Chicken. I loved the quirkiness of the book, and it always made me laugh when I was read it before bed."
