State Assessments

Lancaster School District students are assessed for academic progress throughout the school year. Teachers use standards-aligned formative assessments, assignments, and projects to determine student progress towards meeting grade-level standards and to provide instruction, practice, reteaching, and enrichment activities. We are data-driven and strategically use assessments to monitor student progress against metrics aligned with our Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) and School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA).   Parents are informed of student progress with progress reports, report cards, and a California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) Student Score Report.

California students in Grades 3-8, and Grade 11 take several mandated statewide tests. These tests provide parents/guardians, teachers, and educators with information about how well students are learning and becoming college and career-ready. The test results may be used for local, state, and federal accountability purposes.

NOTICE OF ASSESSMENTS ADMINISTRATION:

Parent Exemption: Pursuant to California Education Code Section 60615, parents/guardians may annually submit to the school a written request to excuse their child from any or all of the CAASPP assessments. Please contact your child's school for more information.

Beginning with the spring 2019 administration of the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP), student score reports (SSRs) can be accessed electronically through the PowerSchool Parent Port -https://pschool.lancsd.org/public/.  If you have questions or concerns about your child's score report, please contact the school office to arrange a conference with your child's teacher.
