What is a School Counselor?

How Do I Support Students?

I have the joy of working with students through classroom guidance lessons, small group counseling, and individual counseling. I also collaborate with school staff and parents to help students develop academically, socially and emotionally, build college and career goals, and help remove any barriers students may face in their learning.

What does a School Counselor do?

School Counselors are there for students when...

  • they have a hard time controlling/identifying emotions or feelings

  • students are having trouble with their friends or peers

  • thinking about the future and creating goals

  • they are going through something and need someone to talk to

  • feeling stressed or cannot focus during class

  • experiencing bullying or need to report bullying

  • they are using substances to cope with how they are feeling

  • they need additional social skills support

  • they don't feel safe at home or other locations

  • they are not being safe and/or wanting to talk about the safety of others
