Attendance

Strive for Less than Five Days Absent!

Lancaster School District is a network of schools committed to providing safe, inclusive learning spaces where the whole child is educated, nurtured, and inspired. We value and respect the diversity within our schools; strive to build and strengthen our communities of care; partner to build a sense of belonging and connectedness, and insist upon student academic growth through rigorous learning environments. Lancaster School District, where life's journey takes flight!

Our Challenge 5 attendance campaign challenges all students to
Strive For Less Than Five Days Absent

Research shows good attendance supports academic achievement and will give your student the best chance at future success. We are here to support our families at every step of their educational journey. Help us learn about your hopes and dreams for your student(s) future.

We are firm believers on the importance of communication between home and school, and we want to keep in touch with you. Our goal is to provide students and families a safe, welcoming and engaging educational experience at LANCSD Schools. We understand that there are times when unforeseen circumstances arise, and we want to be there for our students and families. Please reach out to your students school. We have friendly and caring staff available to listen attentively, judgment free, and ready to help.

Not sure how many absences your student has this school year? Log in to PowerSchool, or call your student's school.  You can use the school calendar above to track your student's attendance this school year.

Missing just 2 days of school each month, although it may not seem like a lot, adds up. 18 days of missed school equals 10% of learning lost, and this is considered chronic absenteeism. Chronic absenteeism includes excused, unexcused and suspension absences.

Ways to Support Your Student's Attendance

Did you know?

What Can You Do?

Communicate with the School

Is your student feeling ill or you have concerns for their mental health? We have partnered with Hazel health for medical and mental health supports, free of cost to all our students. Click on the button below for more information. You can also call your student's school and ask to speak with the school nurse for health related concerns, or the school counselor, for mental health concerns.

Monthly District Attendance Challenges

Have you heard?

Our district will continue hosting the monthly attendance challenges.  Starting in August, on our first day of school, 8/15/23, schools across the district will be participating in friendly attendance competitions with the goal to have the highest attendance rate. Our goal is for our students to attend school on a regular basis, so we can prepare them for the future.  Schools have been challenged to reach a 96 % and above attendance rate. The winning school gets District recognition, to showcase a trophy for a month, and a certificate.

Families, we need you! We ask that you join us in creating a school going climate and help your student's school be the winning school.
