Lamphere Schools utilizes the learning management system (LMS), Canvas, to support student learning. We believe this resource will support and improve school-home partnerships by providing parents with a better understanding of the work teachers and students are completing.
Canvas Overview
Designed specifically for K-12 teachers and students, Canvas is an easy-to-use, cloud-based LMS that connects all the digital tools and resources teachers and students use daily, in the classroom and at home, in one location.
Teachers can post all their class content in one place, including a calendar for due dates, links to class resources like videos, posted homework assignments (and a drop-box for turning it in), etc.
Students can see all their assignments, due dates, and class materials in one place. They can turn in assignments and see teacher feedback.
Parents can "observe" their student's progress and performance in each class.
Please note that the official gradebook will continue to be located in MiStar. Grades in Canvas may not reflect the final grade for a course. However, individual assignment grades and teacher feedback are best viewed from Canvas.
What is Canvas?
Canvas is a learning management system for grades 6-12 that helps simplify teaching and learning by connecting the digital tools teachers and students use in one easy place.
Teachers can post class materials (such as due dates, handouts, and other instructional content) and assign quizzes and other work through Canvas.
Students can view class information in a single location, view all due dates on one calendar, and download/turn in files to their teacher.
Parents can observe students' classes, view class information, and keep an eye on due dates.
