We have some exciting news for all LHS students and LMS 8th graders. The Business and Marketing program at LHS will see some changes next year. If you would like to be in DECA or FBLA please refer to the information below for course registration.
As of Fall 2020 the LHS Business & Marketing Departments will be merged into 1 department. The goal is to give students the opportunity to take a variety of courses to better prepare for their future college paths and careers. Mrs. Randle, Marketing Teacher and DECA Advisor, and Mrs. Adamson, Business Teacher and FBLA Advisor, will be offering a variety of classes within 3 different pathways: Business, Finance & Marketing. In each pathway there are 4 levels of classes for students to follow throughout their 4 years of high school. This will give students the opportunity to dive into a content area that interests them or explore multiple content areas.
If you are currently a DECA or FBLA Member or if you are interested in becoming a member of either organization you will need to be enrolled in a Business or Marketing class for both the fall and spring semesters. Please refer to the three pathways and the course offerings for the next two years when picking your courses. Next to each course you will see a number (1-4). The number references the year within the marketing and business program you should be in to take the class.
Current 8th graders or students who have not taken any business or marketing courses, you will enroll in a level 1 course: Business and Marketing Essentials (year-long course), or Introduction to PC Applications (1st semester) and Introduction to Economics (2nd semester)
Students who have taken a year worth of Business or Marketing classes, you will take a level 2 course: Principles of Accounting and Finance (year-long course) or Principles of Marketing (year-long course).
Students who have taken 2 years of Business or Marketing will enroll in level 3 courses: Strategic Marketing (fall semester), Business Communications (fall semester), Consumer Behavior (spring semester), Introduction to Finance (spring semester).
Students who have taken 3 years of Business or Marketing classes you can take either level 3 or level 4 courses which include: Strategic Marketing (fall semester), Project Management in Action (fall semester), Business Communication (fall semester), Entrepreneurship (fall semester), Consumer Behavior (spring semester), Project Management in Organizations (spring semester), Introduction to Finance (spring semester), Leadership (spring semester), or a Work Based Learning Internship (fall and/or spring semester(s)).
A few of our courses will now count as Academic Electives, including: Introduction to Economics (level 1), Principles of Accounting/Finance (level 2), Business Communications (level 3), Business Statistics (level 3-will be offered 2021-2022), and Managerial Finance (level 3-will be offered 2021-2022).
We know this is a lot of information, If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to either of us. We look forward to seeing you in our classes!
