Q: Who / What are the OGMS Choral Boosters?
A: The Oak Grove Middle School Choral Department Boosters are made up of OGMS Music Staff and Parent Volunteers. The Booster Club exists to support all vocal music ensembles in OGMS Choral Department.
Q: Why does the choir “do” fundraisers?
A: Fundraising requirements vary from year to year. The boosters organize and provide the opportunities to raise funds not only to assist in the functions of the OGMS Choral Program and to also offer students the ability to fundraise to meet the financial commitment for concert choir and show choir at OGMS. Fundraising is an effective way to pay choir fees.
Q: Can you explain the choir fee?
A: Yes. The choir fee covers basic expenses for your child. Please see the breakdown below:
Accompanist / Instrumentalists $15.00
Fall Concert Choir Workshop $10.00
T-Shirt $10.00
Music $15.00
Festival Registration $5.00
Transportation to Choral Festival $5.00
Q: What other costs will I incur?
A: We try to make the $60.00 that you pay for choir stretch as far as it can. In the event that a choir advances to state competition, we will schedule additional fundraisers, but students may be responsible for their individual registration fee and bus fee. In some cases, we have had to charter a bus (field trip window with school, time of day, etc.) Students are also responsible for meals when we take trips to choral festival.
Q: Why do we have to pay a choir fee at all?
Oak Grove Middle School and the Lamar County School District are very supportive of the choral program at OGMS. However, the school and district simply cannot cover the cost of many of the things that make the choral program so attractive and so valuable to our students. We are very fortunate to have community support and sponsors that help the choral program continue to reach over 200 students each year.
Q: How do I make a payment?
Payments can be made online at via MySchool Bucks, or Students may pay during choir, and pick up a receipt showing payment from Mr. Keeler / Mr. Abe.
