Welcome to an Exciting Year in Reading and yearbook!
Dear Students and Parents,
Welcome to our reading classroom! I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to guide each of you through a year filled with stories, adventures, and the joy of discovering a lifetime love of reading. As your teacher, my goal is to spark a passion for books and help every student find the magic within the pages.
I genuinely love reading and can’t wait to share that enthusiasm with all of you. I firmly believe that every student has the potential to succeed, and I am committed to doing whatever it takes to support each of you on your reading journey.
I’m looking forward to a fantastic school year and to getting to know each of you better. Remember, parents play a crucial role in a child’s educational success. If your child needs additional help or if you have any questions about assignments or anything else, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Together, we can make this year a rewarding and successful experience for everyone!
Here’s to a wonderful year ahead!

Play Bookopoly with Mrs. SMith!
What is BOOKOPOLY?
BOOKOPOLY is a reading challenge that encourages you to read more books, and earn the chance to win prizes while you’re at it!
How does it work?
Simply work your way around the BOOKOPOLY board and complete the reading tasks on the colored tiles in any order. When you’ve completed a tile, check it off.
Once you’ve completed a full set of colored tiles you’ll receive a scratch off ticket for a mystery prize and 4 vinyl stickers! The first 35 to complete the board will receive The Maze Runner books 1-5 by James Dashner or The Cursed Carnival book by Rick Riordan!
The more color tiles you collect, the more prizes you’ll earn – so get reading!
Book Requirements
All books must be in your AR level or above book level of 4.0
You must pass the AR quiz to show completion of reading
All books must be read and tested during the 2024-25 school year
Note: You can only use a book to complete a task once. You cannot use the same book for multiple reading tasks
This year our 6th grade class is participating in the BOOK IT! program with Pizza Hut to encourage your child to find the joy in reading. The mission of the program is to turn “have to read” into “want to read” and the only way to get better at reading is to take the time to do it!
Between October - March if your student is on target to meeting their AR goal they will earn a free personal pan pizza every month from Pizza Hut!
