Piazza della Repubblica is one of the most important squares in Milan. It is located next to the new modern district, the central station and also close to Brera Design district. It is one of the biggest squares in the city and in the whole country. Many tall buildings, such as the Diamond and the Breda Tower, overlook the square.
Piazza della Repubblica is a green oasis in Milan’s dense city center. It offers sprawling grassy areas, shady trees and a number of fountains and monuments. This central square was built to accommodate the new Milan Central Station in 1865. Today the square is surrounded by many of Milan’s downtown hotels and restaurants and is a popular basis for visitors to enjoy the city.
Piazza della Repubblica is one of the more modern areas of Milan and is surrounded by a number of the city’s tallest buildings. In a country so well known for its Renaissance and 19th-century architecture, this square is a great opportunity to see some of the nation’s best contemporary architecture. Many of the buildings that can be found around the square are offices, meaning you’ll be able to get a glimpse into the everyday lives of the Milanese. You will also be able to see a monument dedicated to Giuseppe Mazzini, a well known Italian intellectual and politician.
