The Naviglio Pavese is one of the canals making up the Navigli system in Lombardy. It connects Milan to the city of Pavia and it also reaches the riverTicino. Its construction started in 1564, but it was then interrupted because of some technical problems. The last lock to be built before the construction was halted is still preserved, and it is called the "Failed Lock", or, in Italian, "Conca Fallata".
The Naviglio was completed in 1819 and it was closed to navigation in the 1960s. Recently, work has started to open it back to full navigation. In the past, it was used for the transport of goods, while now it has become a very enjoyable place to spend some time, especially if you drop by one of the pubs along its banks.
