brera art gallery

The Brera Art Gallery was founded in 1809, when Napoleon conquered the Italian territories and decided to collect all the works he had obtained, and he chose this building for this purpose. Indeed, in the garden at the entrance you will find a bronze statue portraying the French conqueror.

This place is also known for the botanic garden and the astronomical observatory, where Schiapparelli (an Italian astronomer and science historian) studied Mars.

This is for sure one of the favourite places for Milanese to spend their time while discovering some of the most famous and beautiful artworks in the history of Art.
