Ruins in Via Circo

The Roman circus in Milan is just a part of the ancient Mediolanum, but, even if it is in ruins, the place is really suggestive.

The Roman circus in Milan was an ancient structure linked to the royal palace, which had many important roles when Mediolanum was the capital city of the Roman empire

The circus was built by the emperor Massimiano, in the western part of the city near the royal palace and the new wall, so that it was easy to reach for people who lived outside the city, but also for the emperor, who could get to his seat through a passage in the palace.

Even if these may seem like simple pieces of rock, by walking through them you will be able to get an idea of how large and majestic the Milan circus used to be.
